CHATTOGRAM, Dec 23, 2025 (BSS) - Several thousand leaders and activists across greater Chattogram region have been planning to travel the Capital Dhaka to welcome much expected home-coming of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman on December 25.
Talking to BSS , a number of Chattogram BNP stalwarts while informed that extensive preparations are afoot to take excitingly awaiting huge activists and supporters of the party and its different front organizations to Dhaka on December 25 to ensure their attendance on the gala reception ceremony.
Preparations in this regard that began one week before by Chattogram city, North and South districts units as well as affiliated organizations were still going on and almost final stage, they said adding that a good number of leaders and activists either staying at Dhaka or leaving the port city regularly throughout the day.
Maximum number of bogies of schedule passenger trains en route to Dhaka on December 23 and 24 were already reserved for party leaders and workers while Bangladesh Railway (BR), Eastern Zone, authority have been requested to add extra compartments with all schedule train services to accommodate the increased passengers on those days.
A special train is being arranged from Chattogram on December 24.
Mahbubur Rahman, the Chief Commercial Officer of BR (Eastern Zone) has confirmed the schedule of operating a special train along with good number of seat reservation and additional coaches with scheduled trains to carry the BNP workers and leaders.
Party leaders and activists have begun contacting transport owners to hire buses for their journey. They plan to travel in buses, truck pickups, microbuses, private cars, and even flight tickets to reach the capital by the night of December 24.
Chattogram City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has confirmed BSS on his plan to attend the ceremony at Dhaka airport and added that besides arrangement of special train, hectic preparations have chalked out to carry the intended party leaders and workers to Dhaka to welcome our political guide -Tarique Rahman.
Primarily nominated or still aspiring candidates of 16 parliamentary constituencies for next general election including Ershad Ullah (Chattogram-8) Abu Sufian (Chattogram-9) Enamul Haque Enam (Chattogram-12) , Sarwar Jamal Nizam ( Chattogram-13 ) are preparing to go to Dhaka along with big motorcade for leaders and workers of their respective constituencies.
Ali Abbas, the senior joint convener of South District BNP and Lion Helal Uddin, the member secretary of the unit, both are aspiring for nomination for Chattogram-13 have been staying in Dhaka and monitoring regularly to travel arrangement of leaders and supporters on December 25.
There is a sense of excitement among the party's leaders, activists, and supporters following announcement of much-awaited home coming of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
Leaders and activists at all levels, from city to union workers who were counting time from much before for returning schedule of the party’s top leader , have been boosted up to greet him at grand reception in Dhaka .
They are excited to have a glimpse of their most popular leader who led the bloody democratic struggle for last 17 years against fascist regime from abroad braving numerous challenges.
Nazimur Ramhan, the Member Secretary of Chattogram city BNP said that they have finalized details preparations for smooth travel to and from Dhaka on the occasion of long-awaiting historic coming of Tarique Rahman.
“We are also working for ensuring safety, security and comfortable journey of enthusiastic workers and supporters who have expressed their interest to attend the grand reception” Nazimur told BSS.
Chattogram South District BNP Senior Joint Convener Ali Abbas informed that leaders and activists from every unit and ward committee under South Chattogram are ready to go to Dhaka. A good number of leaders and workers have already reached the capital on own arrangements. Many have even are planning to travel up to capital by motorcycles to join the gala ceremony.
BNP leaders and activists from every upazila, union, and ward of Chattogram North District are also preparing to go to Dhaka to welcome Tarique Rahman. Over 150 buses have already been booked for this purpose. They will start their journey to Dhaka from Tuesday. Bus tickets for December 23 and 24 have been booked in advance, and additional buses will be arranged for those days.
