Police arrest two hijackers with snatched money, Chinese axe

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 9, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested two members of an organized 
snatching gang on Madrazi Shah Road under EPZ police station on Thursday 
night.

Police also seized one Chinese axe and a knife from their possession. 

The criminals were identified as Kafil Uddin, 32, and Nur Uddin known as 
Sheklul, 36. 

Police said Kafil and Shekul intercepted Kafirul Islam in front of the Navy 
Hospital gate in the EPZ area and snatched Taka 3 lakh after beating him 
while he was returning home from an ATM on Wednesday afternoon.

Following complaint filed by victim Kafirul, a team of EPZ thana police 
arrested Kafil and Shekul from Madrazi Shah Road area at 3 am last night. 

Based on Kafil's confession, police recovered Taka one lakh from the 
residence of his father-in-law in the Sitakunda Pourashava area of the 
district on Friday morning.

Police said several criminal cases are pending against them.
