29 more hospitalized with dengue

DHAKA, Jan 9, 2026 (BSS) - Twenty-nine more people were hospitalized with dengue across the country in the last 24 hours while no death from the mosquito-borne disease was reported during the period.

The information was disclosed in a dengue-related press release issued today by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the release, of the newly-hospitalized patients, four were admitted in Barishal Division (outside city corporation areas), nine in Chattogram Division (outside city corporation areas), two in Dhaka Division (outside city corporation areas), two in Dhaka North City Corporation, nine in Dhaka South City Corporation and three in Mymensingh Division (outside 
city corporation areas).

During the same period, 29 dengue patients were discharged from different hospitals. With this, the total number of patients discharged, so far, this year rose to 286.

From January 1 to January 9, 2026, a total of 494 dengue cases were recorded nationwide, of which, 72.4 percent were male and 27.6 percent female.

During the period from January 1 to December 31, 2025, a total of 1,02,861 dengue cases were reported across the country, while 413 people died of the 
disease.
