RANGAMATI, Feb 12, 2026 (BSS) - Voting has begun peacefully in the district amid tight security arrangements across the district this morning.

Polling started at 7:30 am, with voters turning out early to cast their ballots in what was described as a festive atmosphere. A strong presence of law enforcement agencies was observed at every polling center to ensure security.

District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Najma Ashrafi, along with District Police Superintendent Muhammad Abdur Rakib and other senior administrative officials, visited several polling centres in the district town in the morning to monitor the situation.

To maintain law and order, 3,400 members of the Bangladesh Army, 37 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), 1,595 police personnel and 2,769 Ansar members have been deployed across the district. Additionally, 12 executive magistrates are on duty to oversee election activities.

The district administration and law enforcement agencies are working in coordination to ensure that the election is conducted in a free, fair and impartial manner. 

A total of seven candidates are contesting in the Rangamati parliamentary constituency (No. 299). 

The Rangamati parliamentary constituency comprises two municipalities and 50 unions under 10 upazilas. The district has a total of 509,267 registered voters, including 263,410 males, 245,855 females and two transgender voters.
