Child labour welfare council meeting held in Khulna

KHULNA, June 3, 2026 (BSS) – The 15th meeting of the Divisional Child Labour Welfare Council was held today (Wednesday) at the office of Khulna Divisional Commissioner under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdullah Harun.

Addressing the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner said keeping children away from child labour remains a major challenge and requires concerted efforts from all stakeholders.

He stressed the need for finding long-term and sustainable solutions instead of seeking only immediate remedies to prevent child labour.

He said the government has discouraged child labour and emphasized that multidimensional measures are essential to effectively address the issue.

Among others, Divisional Director of the Labour Department Md. Hafez Ahmad Majumdar, Director of Secondary and Higher Education, Khulna Region, Professor Dr. Md. Anis-Ar-Reza, Assistant Inspector General of DIFE Md. ShahinurRahman, officials of different government departments, NGO representatives and members of the Child Labour Welfare Council attended the meeting.

The programme was jointly organized by the Khulna Divisional Administration and the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments.
