CHAPAINAWABGANJ, June 3, 2026 (BSS) – Import and export activities through Sonamasjid Land Port resumed today after an eight-day suspension on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.

Officials concerned said the port restarted its import-export operations this morning, restoring normal trade activities between Bangladesh and India.

Confirming the development, Public Relations Officer of Panama Sonamasjid Port Link Limited Tipu Sultan said all import and export operations at the port had remained closed from May 26 to June 2 in observance of the Eid holidays, following a joint decision by the Sonamasjid Importers and Exporters Group and the Sonamasjid Land Port C&F Agents Association.

He, however, noted that special arrangements were made during the holiday period to facilitate the movement of passport holders through the immigration checkpoint, while the relevant authorities and departments remained operational to ensure uninterrupted passenger services.

“Following the end of the Eid vacation, all port operations resumed as usual from Wednesday morning,” he said.

Meanwhile, trucks carrying goods between Bangladesh and India have started moving through the port again.
