
RAJSHAHI, June 17, 2026 (BSS)- Two brothers were killed in a head-on
collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw in the Baneshwar area under
Puthia upazila of the district.
Two others were also injured in the incident. The accident occurred around 11
am today at Baneshwar market.
The deceased are Hasen Pramanik, 70, and his younger brother Abdul Khalek
Pramanik, 65, residents of Nakulbaria Dhopapara village in Puthia.
After the accident, two others-- Md. Lalon and Md. Laltu-- were admitted to
Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH).
According to eyewitnesses, police said the four passengers in the battery-
operated auto-rickshaw were heading towards Rajshahi to buy a microphone for
a mosque in the Nakulbaria area.
At the time, a carate-carrying truck was heading towards Natore. The truck
and the auto-rickshaw collided at Baneshwar market.
Abdul Khalek Pramanik died on the spot. Three others who were injured were
taken to the hospital, where on-duty doctors declared Hasen Pramanik dead.
Mahabur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Paba Highway Police Station, said
the bodies of the deceased Khalek Pramanik and Hasen Pramanik have been
handed over to the relatives.
The truck involved in the accident has been seized, but the driver managed to
flee the scene.
He also said a case has been filed at the Puthia Police Station under the
Road Transport Act regarding the incident.
