Seminar on National Report of Economic Census held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - A seminar on National Report of Economic Census-2024 was held in Rangpur today. 
 
Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam was present as the chief guest at the seminar held at the conference room of Rangpur Divisional Commissioner's office in the city. 
 
Joint Director of Rangpur Divisional Statistics Office Md Shafiqul Islam presided over the seminar. 
 
At the beginning of the programme, Joint Director of Rangpur Divisional Statistics Office Md Shafiqul Islam presented a documentary on the National Report of Economic Census-2024. 
 
Various proposals were put forward in an open discussion at the seminar regarding the preparation of accurate statistics. 
 
In his speech as the chief guest, the Divisional Commissioner said that there is no alternative to proper planning for a sustainable economy and proper statistics are very necessary to prepare proper plans. 
 
Regarding the data collection process, the Divisional Commissioner said that the more the data collection process and analysis improve, the more acceptable the published statistics will be. 
 
“All concerned should give importance to collecting reliable and quality data in decision-making and plan implementation,” he added. 
 
The seminar was addressed by Associate Professor of Statistics at Begum Rokeya University Charles Darwin and President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Emdadul Hossain as special guests. 
 
Government officials, representatives of private institutions and business organizations, and journalists were present at the programme.
