Youth electrocuted in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - A youth named Sujan, 28, died after being electrocuted while stealing a Rural Electrification Board (REB) cable in the 
Mirganj Kayapara area under Ward No 32 of the city today.
 
Sujan is the son of Abdur Rahim of the same area. 
 
"The tragic incident took place around 3 am," said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tajhat police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Md Ataur Rahman told BSS 
this afternoon.
 
According to police and local sources, Sujan died on the spot after being electrocuted while stealing cable from an REB transmitter near his home early 
this morning. 

In the morning, local people saw his body next to the transmitter and informed the police.
 
Later, the police recovered the body and sent it to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. 

"A case has been filed at Tajhat police station in this incident," the OC added.
