Eight pharmacies, shopkeeper fined Tk 77,000 in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, July 15, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court today fined several pharmacies and a roadside shopkeeper a total of Tk 77,000 during a drive in Madhabdi Municipality under Narsingdi Sadar Upazila.

The operation was led by Executive Magistrate Md. Khalid Hossain Shimul of the Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner's Office.

During the drive, the court filed seven cases under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 2023 against Awlad Pharmacy-1, Awlad Pharmacy-2, Mobarak Medical, Mukul Medicine, Sohag Pharmacy, Adel Pharmacy and New Riju Pharmacy for selling expired medicines, marketing physician samples and selling prohibited medicines. The pharmacies were fined a total of Tk 75,000.

In a separate case, the court fined a shopkeeper Tk 2,000 under the Local Government (Municipality) Act, 2009 for obstructing public movement by operating a business on a public road.

Sirajum Monira, Drug Superintendent of Narsingdi, prosecuted the cases during the mobile court proceedings.
