KHULNA, July 29, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna district administration has undertaken a series of programmes to observe July Mass Uprising Day on August 5 with due dignity in line with the national observance schedule.
According to a handout issued by the Khulna office of the Press Information Department (PID), the day's programmes will begin at 9:00 am with the placing of wreaths at the July Martyrs' Memorial at Shibbari Mor, followed by a voluntary blood donation programme and a visit to the grave of martyr Sakib Rayhan.
The administration will also arrange exhibitions of rare photographs and documentaries on the July movement at different points across the city. Special prayers will be offered at mosques and other places of worship seeking eternal peace for the martyrs.
A reception for the families of July martyrs and participants in the uprising, followed by a discussion, will be held at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium at 11:00 am.
The day's programme also includes a friendly football match, screening of films and documentaries on the July movement, free public entry to government museums and recreational facilities for children, and special meals at hospitals, prisons and welfare institutions.
The city will be decorated with national flags, banners and festoons, while educational institutions will organise essay, recitation and drawing competitions. The July memorial will be illuminated, and graffiti related to the movement will be displayed at designated locations.
Similar programmes will be observed in all upazilas of the district, the handout added.
