BOGURA, July 29, 2026 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed and his younger brother injured after a sand-laden truck struck their motorcycle in Dhunat upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Sohel Rana, 25, son of Babu Mia of Munshipara area in Sherpur upazila. His younger brother, Rabbi Hasan, 18, sustained injuries in the accident.

According to police and local sources, Sohel Rana was returning home on amotorcycle with his younger brother after visiting his in-laws' house. When they reached the Bathuyabari Bridge area on the Dhunat-Sherpur regional road, a speeding sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction collided with their motorcycle.

Sohel Rana died on the spot, while Rabbi Hasan was seriously injured.

Local residents rescued Rabbi and took him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhunat Police Station Atikul Islam confirmed the matter and said the truck had been seized following the accident.

Sohel Rana's body was handed over to his family after the completion of legal formalities, he added.
