BAGERHAT, Aug 5, 2026 (BSS) - The district administration observed July Uprising Day 2026 in Bagerhat through various programmes.
 
The day's programme began with the paying of tributes to the martyrs by placing wreaths at the Bagerhat July Martyrs' Memorial. Later, films and documentaries provided by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting were screened at the Zilla Parishad Auditorium.
 
A reception was then held for the family members of the July martyrs and July warriors, followed by a discussion highlighting the significance of the day.
 
Speakers at the discussion said the July 2024 uprising was an important chapter in the country's struggle for democracy, justice and human rights. They paid deep respect to the sacrifices of the martyrs and said a non-discriminatory, just and prosperous Bangladesh should be built by upholding their ideals and spirit.
 
They also stressed the importance of conveying the true history and sacrifices of the July uprising to future generations.
 
Speaking at the programme, Superintendent of Police Hasan Mohammad Naser Rikabdar assured that free medicines would be provided to the family members of all July martyrs.
 
Among others, Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Golam Mohammad Baten, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Bagerhat District Ameer Maulana Rezaul Karim and District BNP Member Secretary Muzaffar Rahman Alam were present.
