KHULNA, Aug 9, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a suspected drug trader with 9,730 yaba tablets in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat early today, said a RAB-6 press release.

The arrested was identified as Md Jahidul Islam alias Kalam, 37, son of Ratan Hawladar of Rajpara area under Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur.

According to the press release, a team of RAB Special Company conducted a raid at the Barikhali area under Morelganj Police Station around 4:20 am today following a tip-off.

During the raid, the elite force arrested Zahidul and recovered 9,730 yaba tablets from his possession. The tablets were seized in the presence of witnesses following due legal procedure.

RAB said information was found against the arrested man in three drug-related cases filed with Teknaf Police Station in Cox's Bazar and Jatrabari Police Station in Dhaka.

A case under the Narcotics Control Act is being prepared against him at Morelganj Police Station.

The arrested person will be handed over to police along with the seized yaba tablets for further legal action, the RAB press release added.
