RAJSHAHI, Aug 9, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton has pledged to work collectively with people from all communities to build a cleaner, greener, healthier and more livable Rajshahi city.

He made the remarks while attending a Kirtan and Ananda Mahotsav organized at the premises of Chaturvedi Sarbajanin Temple in Paba Para area of the city, marking the purchase of land for the temple last night.

Addressing the gathering, the RCC administrator said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had entrusted him with the responsibility of serving the people of Rajshahi.

"I seek your prayers and blessings so that I can continue working for the people with honesty and dedication," he said.

Emphasising religious harmony, Riton said, "Religion is a matter of individual faith, but the country belongs to all of us. Everyone should be able to practise their respective religion peacefully. We are like one family, and we will move forward through mutual respect, love and harmony."

He said collective efforts were essential to transform Rajshahi into a beautiful, clean, healthy and livable metropolis.

"Various initiatives are underway, including drain cleaning to address waterlogging and extensive tree plantation to protect the environment. I want Rajshahi to become a cleaner, greener, waterlogging-free and peaceful city. I seek everyone's cooperation in achieving this goal," he added.

Ruhini Mohan Mondal, president of the Chaturvedi Sarbajanin Temple Committee, presided over the programme, while noted social worker Professor Dr Sujit Kumar Bhadra attended as the special guest.

Vice-presidents Pradeep Kumar Sarker and Sumanta Kumar Sarker, General Secretary Chandan Kumar Pal, Joint General Secretary Manik Chandra Sarker, Cultural Secretary Biplab Roy and other members of the temple committee were also present.
