KHLUNA, Aug 12, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested a suspected drug peddler with 
4,000 yaba tablets during an anti-drug operation in the city's Labanchara 
area on Wednesday afternoon, said a KMP press release.

The arrested person was identified as Md Anwar Hossain, 35, son of Md Siraj 
Sheikh of Sufian Colony, Jele Para under Pahartali Police Station in 
Chattogram.

A team of Labanchara Police, acting on a tip-off, set up a check-post near 
the Southgate Restaurant, west of Khulna Palli Bidyut Samity in Tikrabadh 
area, around 4:30pm, the press release said.

During the operation, the police detained a man on suspicion and searched 
him, recovering 4,000 yaba tablets from his possession.

The operation was conducted under the overall supervision of KMP South 
Division Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Barman and Labanchara 
Police Station Officer-in-Charge Syed Mosharraf Hossain.

A regular case under the Narcotics Control Act is being filed against the 
arrested person and further legal action is underway, police said.
