DINAJPUR, Aug 25, 2026 (BSS) - A truck driver was killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision between two cargo trucks on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway in Birampur upazila of the district this afternoon. 
 
The deceased was Rashidul Islam, 35, son of Md Ayub Ali, a resident of Sheikhpura village under Dinajpur Sadar upazila. 
 
The accident occurred around 3.30pm in front of Bijul Girls’ High School near Bijul Bazar in Birampur. 
 
Four people, including the driver and helper of the other truck, were injured in the accident. Local residents and police rescued the injured and took them to Birampur Upazila Health Complex. 
 
As the condition of two of the injured was critical, they were shifted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. 
 
Birampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector Ali Iftekhar confirmed the matter.
