KHULNA, Sept 1, 2026 (BSS) - A man was killed after being hit by a motorcycle 
in the city's Khalishpur area this morning.

The deceased was identified as Hamid Khandaker, 50, son of Osman Khandaker of 
Goalakhali area in the city.

The accident occurred around 9:30 am in front of Nesaria Madrasa at 
Goalakhali under Khalishpur Police Station.

Police and locals said Hamid was crossing the road when a speeding motorcycle 
hit him in the area and fled the scene. He fell on the road and was 
critically injured.

Locals took him to Khulna Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared 
him dead on his arrival.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot, said Md Shahjahan Ahmed, officer-
in-charge (OC) of Khalishpur Police Station. 

"The body was kept at the hospital morgue," he said, adding that necessary 
legal procedures would be completed before handing over the body to the 
family.

However, police could not immediately identify the motorcycle or its rider.
