Gunmen kill dozens in central Nigeria: governor's office

ABUJA, April 20, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Gunmen killed at least 56 people earlier this week in central Nigeria's Benue state, an official in the governor's office said Saturday, revising an earlier toll of 17.

"The death toll has jumped to 56 from the attacks as at the last count," media advisor Solomon Iorpev told AFP after Governor Hyacinth Alia visited the scene of the killings, which occurred Thursday night into Friday.
