LONDON, April 29, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - British leader Keir Starmer on Tuesday congratulated Canada's new Prime Minister Mark Carney on his election win and said he looked forward to strengthening ties between the two countries.

"Congratulations to Mark Carney on your election victory. The UK and Canada are the closest of allies, partners and friends," Starmer said in a statement. "Our partnership is based on shared history and values, with a shared sovereign, and I look forward to strengthening our ties".
