GUATEMALA CITY, Oct 16, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Guatemala's president on Wednesday dismissed his interior minister and two other top officials after 20 members of a gang designated a "foreign terrorist organization" by the United States escaped from prison.

In an address to the Central American nation, President Bernardo Arevalo said he had accepted the resignation of Interior Minister Francisco Jimenez and two deputy ministers amid political pressure in the aftermath of Barrio 18 gang members disappearing from a jail near the capital this weekend.
