Japan parties sign deal for Takaichi-led coalition

TOKYO, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Japan's ruling LDP and its junior partner 
signed a coalition deal Monday, paving the way for Sanae Takaichi to become 
the country's first woman premier.

Takaichi and Hirofumi Yoshimura, co-head of the Japan Innovation Party (JIP), 
signed the agreement in front of media, a day before the lower house was due 
to vote on the next prime minister.
