DHAKA, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) – National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Chairman Mahbubul Alam Patwary said textbooks will be distributed to students in schools across the country on January 1.

He told BSS in an interview today that all preparations for the distribution have already been completed.

He said the printing of 30 crore textbooks for primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels this year is now in its final stage. While there may be a slight shortfall in textbooks for classes seven and eight, it will be possible to ensure 100 percent distribution to students in all other classes, he added.

He said, “On behalf of NCTB, we have already shared good news on the eve of the great Victory Day. We have managed to complete over 8.5 crore books for our primary schools and have informed everyone about it.”

Mahbubul Alam said that printing such a large number of books before the start of the academic year was made possible due to the tireless efforts of the government, officials across various ministries, the dedicated work of all involved, and the support of the press owners.

The NCTB Chairman said, “We have already received news from some places that our books have been delivered to schools. The best news from many places is that we are receiving a positive response regarding the quality of the books, which is very encouraging.”

He added, “This time, the paper and printing quality have improved significantly, meaning we will be able to hand over 100 percent of the primary books to students on January 1.”

Mahbubul said, “We are now planning for secondary schools, so that we will be able to deliver 100 percent of our books to students of classes six and nine by January 1.”

He said, “We will ensure that every student gets the book. We are also trying to make sure that at least the soft copies are available before the start of classes. We hope to upload all these books to our NCTB website by January 28.”

“We have to print over 30 crore books from NCTB this year. This year's books have been printed on high-quality paper, and the printing process has been excellent.”

“We have a monitoring team, and our concerned officers are overseeing every press on behalf of NCTB,” he added.
