SANGSAD BHABAN, June 17, 2026 (BSS) - Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today
said in Jatiya Sangsad that the government is firmly committed to preventing
the spread of drugs, mugging and juvenile gangs across the country.

He made the remarks while replying to a written tabled question placed by
opposition lawmaker Md. Abdul Baten of Dhaka-16 constituency in the Jatiya
Sangsad.

The Home Minister said public awareness is being enhanced through bit
policing, community policing and courtyard meetings to ensure public safety
and protect citizens from drug abuse, juvenile gangs, theft, mugging and
robbery.

He said regular counselling programmes, special drives and anti-drug
operations are being conducted as part of the government's efforts to combat
these crimes.

Salahuddin Ahmed informed the House that drug dealers and drug users are
being arrested regularly, while legal actions, including the filing of cases
and summary trials, are continuing against offenders.

"To prevent juvenile gangs from using online platforms to organize and carry
out criminal activities, online surveillance has been strengthened," he
added.

The Home Minister said awareness campaigns involving local residents,
parents, teachers and community leaders are being carried out to educate
people about the harmful impacts of drugs and juvenile gang activities.

He also said effective measures are being taken to identify drug traffickers
through the use of modern technology and to arrest members of juvenile gangs.
