DHAKA, Jan 1, 2026 (BSS) - A prayer event was held this evening at Dhaka University Jagannath Hall in memory of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

The event began with recitations from holy scriptures as Pormit Das, a mathematics student of the 2021-22 academic year, read from the Bhagavad Gita; Piyel Barua, a management student of the 2023-24 academic year, read from the Tripitaka; and Liton Tripura, an economics student of the 2020-21 academic year, read from the Bible.

A brief discussion on the life and achievements of Begum Khaleda Zia was held later with Jagannath Hall Provost Debashish Paul in the chair.
