Court attaches plots, building of Tarique Siddique, brother

DHAKA, July 2, 2025 (BSS) -A court here today ordered to attach plots and a building, worth around Taka 15 crore, of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's defence adviser Major General (Retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique and his brother Shafique Ahmed Siddique.

The court also ordered to appoint a receiver to supervise these properties.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The attached properties include 17 decimals of land of Shafique Ahmed Siddique in Gazipur, 67 decimals of land of Tarique Ahmed Siddique and a 10-storiey building raised on 19.50 decimals of land on that plot.

The ACC in its plea said it is probing allegations of amassing illegal wealth against the Siddique brothers and it has been learned that the duo is trying to hand over, sell or transfer the properties to evade justice.

"For the sake of justice, these properties should be attached and a receiver should be appointed in this connection," the ACC plea added.
