2nd unit of Payra power plant resumes after 2 months

PATUAKHALI, Jan 7, 2025 (BSS) - The second unit of Payra 1320-megawatt (MW) Thermal Power Plant resumed production on Monday night after two months.

After completing repairing, the authority resumed the production around 9.30 pm on Monday (6 January), said Shah Abdul Mawla, Plant Manager of Payra 1320 MW Thermal Power Plant, this morning.

The electricity production of the power plant was shut down for maintenance on November 9 last year.

Now the plant will supply 10 percent of the country's electricity demand, he said. 

Currently, the authorities are supplying 1320 MW of electricity generated from the two units of this power plant to the national grid. 

Payra Thermal Power Plant is located at Dhankhali union under Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district.
