CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Jan 8, 2025 (BSS)- A flag meeting between Border Guard
Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) of India was held centered
around the construction of a barbed wire fence at the Chouka border in the
district this afternoon.

A decision for keeping the barbed wire-fencing and constructing road along
Shibganj frontier in the district suspended has been taken in the flag
meeting.

Commanding Officer (CO) of 59 Battalion of the BGB Lieutenant Colonel Md.
Golam Kibria confirmed.

"It was a cordial discussion between the officials of both the countries," he
said, adding that further decision would be taken later by the high officials
of the two countries.

"Members of Sabdalpur BSF camp in Gopalganj thana of Malda district in India
started constructing a road and making a fence of barbed wire along the
border last Sunday morning, but after the BGB intervention, they stopped the
work. The situation is now calm. Additional BGB members have been deployed at
the border," the CO remarked.

He assured that there is no reason for the general public to be afraid.
