DHAKA, July 20, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Adviser's Press Wing has said some pro-Awami League propaganda accounts on social media circulated a disturbing video, falsely claiming that the army and NCP-Jamaat jointly carried out a massacre in Gopalganj by dragging patients from hospital beds.

"The video went viral in the wake of violent clashes on July 16, when banned Awami League factions and affiliated groups launched attacks on an NCP rally and law enforcement personnel in Gopalganj," the press wing said in a statement posted on its verified Facebook account - CA Press Wing Facts - on Saturday.

In response, security forces initiated joint operations to apprehend those involved in the violence. The ensuing armed confrontations led to the deaths of at least five individuals.

However, a fact-check investigation revealed that the footage in question does not depict a real-life incident. Instead, it is a dramatised scene from a fictional production titled "Bidyapith", the statement said.

Closer examination of the video reveals the watermark "RKR Production", leading investigators to the official YouTube channel of RKR Production.

There, a video titled "Bidya Pith Expert Tofazzel Shares", published on September 27, 2024, matches the viral clip. The 18-minute 27-second drama features the same scene beginning at the 14:40 mark.

"This evidence confirms that the viral video being circulated as proof of a massacre in Gopalganj is entirely fictional and taken out of context to mislead the public," the statement read.
