DHAKA, Sept 26, 2026 (BSS) – Maritime ports of the country has been asked to hoist Local Cautionary Signal (LCS)- 3 as low-pressure over the Bay of Bengal has intensified and turned into a well-marked low.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) the low might further be strengthen.
In a special weather bulletin today the BMD said that the low developed in the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining west central bay off the Odisha-Andhra coast of India has turned into a well-marked low was located in the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining central bay around 6 am on Friday.
The Met Office said that it may intensify further. Due to this, a steep pressure gradient lies over the North Bay. Under its influence, gusty or squally winds may blow over the North Bay and Bangladesh's coastal areas and sea ports.
The sea ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3.
Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been asked to come close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
Met office said, light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at a few places in the Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions and one or two places in the Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions over the next 24 hours.
