DHAKA, Nov 22, 2025 (BSS) – A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck the capital city and several other parts of the country at 10:38 am today, according to Bangladesh Metrological Department (BMD). 

It said the epicentre of the quake was located at Madhabdi in Narsingdi, 13km east from the BMD Seismic Centre, Agargaon in Dhaka.
 

The United States Geological Survey (USGS), however, confirmed that the epicentre was located 14 kilometres west-southwest of Narsingdi, at a depth of 10 kilometres.


The sudden jolt prompted residents in many areas of Dhaka to rush outdoors in panic. The tremor lasted only a few seconds, but people evacuated homes, offices, and commercial buildings as a precautionary measure.


No immediate reports of casualties or structural damage have been received.
