RAB arrests two accused in Rangpur's Nuruzzaman murder case from Dhaka

RANGPUR, April 1, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested two main accused in the sensational Nuruzzaman murder case of Mithapukur police station in Rangpur from Eidgah Math Crossing area under Mirpur police station of Dhaka on Tuesday evening.
 
The arrestees are: Md Jahangir Alam, 34, of village Salmara Latifpur and Md Mochan Mia, 50, of village Iqbalpur under Mithapukur police station in Rangpur, said a press release signed by RAB-13's Senior Assistant Director (Media) and Additional Superintendent of Police Biplab Kumar Goswami today.
 
Quoting the case statement, the release said that the accused and the victim are neighbors and there had been a dispute between their families.

The arrested accused and his associates blocked the path of the plaintiff's wife, assaulted her and caused bloody wounds at 12:00 noon on February 7, 2026. 

Later, when the plaintiff's son Md Nuruzzaman, 31, came forward to protect his mother, the arrested accused also hit him and kicked him hard in the testicles, causing serious injuries. 

The injured Nuruzzaman was taken to Mithapukur Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty declared victim Nuruzzaman dead at 5.30 pm on the same day.

The victim's father filed a murder case with the Mithapukur police station on February 9, 2026, in this incident.

On a tip-off, a joint team of RAB-13 from Rangpur and RAB-4 from Mirpur in Dhaka conducted a raid and arrested the two accused persons from the Eidgah Math Crossing area under the Mirpur police station of Dhaka at 6:30 pm on Tuesday.

The arrested accused persons have been handed over to the Mithapukur police station in Rangpur for further legal action, the release said.
