Measles vaccination campaign to begin on Sunday: Health Minister

DHAKA, April 1, 2026 (BSS)- Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. 
Sakhawat Hossain today said a nationwide emergency measles vaccination 
campaign will begin from next Sunday [April 05].

"Children aged 6 months to 10 years will be administered the vaccine starting 
from Sunday," he said while briefing the journalists at Bangladesh 
Secretariat here today.

Routine immunization activities under the Expanded Programme on Immunization 
(EPI) will continue alongside the campaign, he added.

In the briefing, the minister said that the vaccines and syringes will be 
collected and distributed across the country between Thursday and Friday. To 
ensure the smooth implementation of the drive, leave for all health workers 
at the field level have been cancelled, he added.

Addressing preparedness, the minister noted that adequate ventilator support 
is available to face measles cases and hospitals have been equipped with the 
necessary number of beds.
