Tree plantation programmes inaugurated in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, April 1, 2026 (BSS) - As part of the present government's five-
year "National Green Mission" to combat climate change, restore forests and 
increase biodiversity, a tree plantation programme was inaugurated today at 
the Monno City by the side of Dhaka-Aricha Highway under the auspices of 
Roads and Highways and the Road Transport Directorate.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Manikganj Nazmun Ara Sultana and 
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarwar Alam took part in the tree plantation 
programmes while Executive Engineer Roads and Highways Md. Shahriar Alam and 
Additional SP Mohoram Ali and local journalists were present, among others.

The Deputy Commissioner said to face the bad impact of climate change and for 
keeping the balance in the environment everyone should plant trees as there 
is no alternative.

SP Sarwar Alam said the benefit of the tree plantation is not only important 
for the environment but also important for the religious. To provide a good 
living world for the next generation everyone should be aware of tree 
plantation from their own position, he added.
