RAJSHAHI, April 1, 2026 (BSS) - A day-long workshop titled "Workshop on Accreditation Preparation and Procedure" was held today at the Department of Statistics of Rajshahi University (RU).
 
The workshop took place at the Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose Science Building of the university, with the session presided over by the department's Chairman, Professor Md. Monsur Rahman.
 
Among the guests present were Professor Md. Abu Reza, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of RU, and Professor Md. Kamal Uddin, Additional Director of IQAC. 

The resource person for the workshop was Professor Md. Monimul Haque, also an Additional Director of IQAC. Professor Rezaul Karim, Convener of the department's PSAC, delivered the welcome speech.
 
The day-long workshop featured six sessions focusing on the standards and regulations of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC).

The sessions included BAC accreditation standards and compliance, adoption and maintenance of the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF), evaluation processes using BAC rubrics, and various steps in preparing applications for BAC accreditation.

 
Speaking at the event, IQAC Director Professor Md. Abu Reza stated that there is currently no alternative to accreditation in ensuring the quality of education.

To remain competitive globally, teaching and assessment methods must be upgraded to international standards. In this regard, understanding and following the different aspects of accreditation is essential, and he described the workshop as an important step toward that goal.
 
In his presidential speech, Professor Md. Monsur Rahman emphasized that the accreditation process is crucial for improving the quality of education in the department and presenting it at a global standard. 

He expressed hope that the workshop would provide teachers and concerned individuals with a clear understanding of the detailed application process.
 
The workshop also included an open discussion session, with faculty members of the Department of Statistics participating.
