SUNAMGANJ, April 1, 2026 (BSS) - A joint task force of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police today seized 2,080 litres of stockpiled diesel during a drive in Jamalganj upazila of the district.

Led by Executive Magistrate Md. Sakibur Rahman of the district administration, the drive was conducted at Sachna Bazar this afternoon.

Task force sources said the drive aimed to maintain stability in the fuel market and curb illegal hoarding and smuggling. During the drive, officials searched a closed shop and recovered the stored diesel.

The seized fuel has been handed over to the barge depot manager of Jamuna Oil Company Limited following legal procedures.

Confirming the matter, Commanding Officer of Sunamganj Battalion (28 BGB), Lieutenant Colonel AKM Zakaria Kadir, said the force remains on high alert to prevent any attempt to hoard or smuggle fuel.

He added that such drives will continue in the public interest.
