5 brick kiln owners fined in CTG

CHATTOGRAM, April 1, 2026 (BSS) - Five brick kiln owners in Lohagara upazila of the district were fined a total of Taka 30 lakh today during a mobile court drive conducted by the Department of Environment in different areas of Charmba Union today.

Executive Magistrate Md Rezwan-ul-Islam led the drive. The brick kilns were found to be violating the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment (Control) Act, 2013 (Amended 2019). 

The owners of the brick kilns fined were Jasim Uddin, Md. Gias Uddin, Nasir Uddin, Mofizur Rahman, and Nurul Alam Bahadur, each fined Taka 6 lakh, totaling Taka 30 lakh.

The operation was attended by Deputy Director Md Mozahidur Rahman, Research Officer Md Ashraf Uddin, Inspector Muhammad Moinuddin Faisal, and Data Entry Operator Kazi Iftekar Uddin from the Department of Environment, Chattogram District Office. Members of Chattogram RAB-07, Ansar, Police, Fire Service, and Civil Defense, Lohagara Station were also present.

Executive Magistrate Md Rezwan-ul-Islam stated that the brick kilns were fined for violating the Brick Manufacturing and Establishment of Kilns(Control) Act, 2013 (amended 2019) by setting up and operating brick kilns. 

Similar campaigns will be conducted in the future in the interest of the public.
