DHAKA, Sept 30, 2025 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam today said an integrated training course will soon be launched at the Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI) for the July Mass Uprising injured who are interested in art, culture, and film.

He made the remarks while addressing a cultural programme as part of the “Youth Festival”, organized by BCTI today, marking the completion of four short-term training courses.

Emphasizing dignified rehabilitation of those injured in the July Uprising, the Adviser said they should be encouraged to engage in art, culture, and the media, according to their preferences, which would ultimately benefit the nation.

Highlighting the government initiatives, he said the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) has already arranged several journalism trainings programmes for the injured, while the National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMC) will soon introduce similar courses.

Addressing trainees, Mahfuj Alam said training has little value unless the acquired knowledge is applied practically. He pointed out the shortage of skilled manpower in technical fields of filmmaking in Bangladesh and advised students to enhance their expertise in sound, color, and editing.

Urging them not to be discouraged by the current state of the film market, he said, there are still at least 300 million Bangla-speaking people in Bangladesh and India combined, which constitutes a huge potential audience.

The adviser called upon filmmakers and trainees to produce high-quality contents to meet people’s demands.

Mahfuj also stressed producing regional language- and culture-based contents, noting the growing interest among audiences. Such contents, he said, should be diverse and tailored for younger generations.

“Art, culture, and film institutions must remain free from politics, underscoring the need for long-term planning in this sector,” he added.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farzana, NIMC Director General Muhammad Hiruzzaman, BCTI Governing Body member Rafiqul Anwar Russell and BCTI Chief Executive Abul Kalam Mohammad Shamsuddin, also spoke on the occasion.

At the end of the event, a total of 60 trainees were awarded certificates for completing four short-term courses conducted by BCTI.

The courses were the Basic Film, the 2nd Film Appreciation, the 3rd Film Editing Training, and the 8th Film and Television Acting Training.
