Tarique Rahman attends citizens condolence meeting for Khaleda Zia tomorrow

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will attend the citizens condolence meeting for former BNP Chairperson and three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia here tomorrow.

The condolence meeting will be held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Friday after Zuma prayers. 

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, along with all family members, will be present at this condolence meeting at 2:30pm, it was disclosed at a press conference held today at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) Convention Hall in the city. 

The press conference was chaired by educationist and economist Professor Dr. Mahbub Ullah.

During the press conference, the speakers said that all members of her family have been invited to the citizens' condolence meeting for Begum Khaleda Zia and they have agreed to remain present at the meeting. 

Former Chief Justice Syed JR Modassir Hossain will attend as the chief guest. Eminent citizens, media professionals, and representatives from various classes and professions of the country will be present at the meeting.

Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Executive Editor of Daily Ittefaq Saleh Uddin, General Secretary of Bangladesh Federal Journalists' Union (BFUJ) Kader Gani Chowdhury, Director General of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Faruq Wasif and Chairman of Debate for Democracy Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron, among others, were present at the press conference.
