DHAKA, Oct 22, 2024 (BSS) –  Sylhet Gas Field Limited (SGFL) is expected to supply around 14-15 million cubic feet of gas (mmcfd) daily to the national grind within the next one month from its Sylhet-7 old well as fresh reserve of gas has been  found in the well today.

Talking to BSS, SGFL managing director Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said workover on the old gas well Sylhet-7 began in July of this year. “Today (October 22), gas was found at a depth of 1,200 meters in another zone of the well,” he said, adding that earlier, on October 14, gas was found at a depth of 2,010 in a zone of the same well.

“We need to carry out another test to have a clear idea about the total extractable reserves in these two zones,” he said, adding, “ We’re hopeful of supplying around 14-15 million cubic feet of gas daily to the national grind within the next one month from these reserves”.

Mizanur Rahman said that 60-70 million cubic feet of gas discovered earlier in other wells in Sylhet Gas Fields is now being supplied to the national gas grid.

Earlier, on May 24 this year, after drilling, gas was discovered at the 8th well in the Kailashtila gas field in Sylhet, yielding 21 million cubic feet of gas daily at depths between 3,440 and 5,500 feet.
