DHAKA, Nov 25, 2024 (BSS) - Passenger Welfare Association of Bangladesh (PWAB) today demanded formulation of a policy for the movement of small vehicles, including battery-powered rickshaws.
The association has claimed that the government could earn revenue worth Tk 5,000 crore annually if 40 lakh battery-run auto-rickshaws are registered and licenses are issued to the drivers through the city corporations, municipalities and upazila parishads.
PWAB Secretary General Md. Mozammel Haque Chowdhury made the demand in a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) here.
Prof Robaet Ferdous of Dhaka University’s Mass Communication and Journalism department, convener of Rickshaw, Battery Rickshaw, Van and Easy Bike Sangram Parishad Khalekuzzaman Lipon and general secretary of Chittagong Electric Three Wheeler Vehicle Owners and Drivers Oikya Parishad Md. Siddique Mia, among others, spoke.
