52 BNP men including Mirza Fakhrul discharged from explosive case

DHAKA, Oct 24, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 52 leaders and activists of BNP, including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Barkatullah Bulu and Amanullah Aman were discharged from the charges in a case filed under the Explosives Substance Act. 
 
The other prominent BNP leaders  are-Zainul Abdin Farroque, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Abdul Awal Mintoo, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Mir Sorafat Ali Sopu, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anney, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Saiful Islam Nirob and Dr AZM Zahid Hossain.
  
Today was fixed for holding a hearing on charge framing in the case filed with the capital’s Paltan Police Station. The defence side at the hearing pleaded to discharge the accused, saying there is no substantial materials in the case that can make the court indict them.
  
Allowing the defence plea, Judge Qudrar E Ilahi of Dhaka 15th Special Tribunal discharged the accused from the case, defence counsel Zakir Hossain told BSS.
  
Police filed the case on January 6, 2015, for hurling cocktails at law enforcers from a BNP procession, vandalizing vehicles and setting those on fire.
