DHAKA, Oct 26, 2024 - (BSS) - Joint forces, led by Bangladesh Navy, detained two alleged dacoits from Rouder Hat area under Bhola Sadar Police Station today.

The arrestees were Md Monir Hossain, an arms dealer and extortionist and Mohammad Russell, a drug dealer, said an Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) release.

Being informed, the joint forces recovered one local revolver, five ramdas, one dragger, one Chinese hammer and some locally made weapons from their possession, said the ISPR release.

The arrestees were accused in several cases of extortions, terrorist activities, arms trading and drug peddling; the ISPR release quoted the Bhola Sadar Police Station as saying. The arrestees were handed over to the concerned police station for legal action.

This operation is being conducted as a part of regular patrolling and operations in the Bangladesh Navy's assigned areas under 'In Aid to Civil Power' to implement the directives of the incumbent government, the release added.
