DHAKA, Nov 24, 2024 (BSS) - Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC)
Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan today called upon the students of the university
to increase their networks at national and international levels to develop
themselves as skilled human resources.
"Along with developing interpersonal relationships with faculties, students
must establish communication with local and international figures and
institutions to enrich their skills," he said.
The VC said while addressing the fresher reception programme of first year
students from the Departments under the faculties of business studies,
biological sciences, earth and environmental sciences and engineering and
technology at Teacher-Student Center (TSC) auditorium at the campus.
Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha addressed the programme
as special guest with Students Counselling and Guidance Office Director
Mehzabin Haque in the chair.
Prof Niaz Ahmed congratulated the new students admitted to undergraduate
programmes saying, "Students got the opportunity to get admission in this
university through rigorous competitive examinations."
To develop knowledge and skills, students should set their goals from the
beginning of their university life and move forward, he said, adding, "Along
with education and research, students should participate in sports and co-
curricular activities to acquire various linguistic and organizational
skills."
The VC expressed his hope that the new Bangladesh will move forward with the
leadership of a skilled young generation.
The programme was also addressed, among others, by Business Studies Faculty
Dean Prof Dr Mahmud Osman Imam, Biological Sciences Faculty Dean Dr. Md.
Akhter Hossain Khan, Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty Dean Dr. M.
Shahidul Islam, Engineering and Technology Faculty Dean Dr. Upama Kabir and
DU Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed.
