Court scraps bail plea of Barrister Suman in 3 cases

DHAKA, Jan 01, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today scrapped bail plea of former Habiganj-4 lawmaker Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman in three cases lodged over murder and attempted murder took place during the July-August student-led mass uprising.

Judge Shihabul Islam of Dhaka 8th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court passed the order after holding hearing on the pleas filed for the former lawmaker.

On October 21, police arrested Suman from the capital's Mirpur-6 area and showed him arrested in the cases.

Of the three cases, one was filed over attempt to murder a restaurant chef Hridoy Miah in the capital's Mirpur-10 area on July 19. Another case was filed with the Mirpur Police Station over attempt to murder one Adam Bin Amin on the same day in the same area.

A case was filed against Barrister Suman and others with Khilgaon Police Station over the murder of Mizanur Rahman, who was killed on July 19. His father Md Kamal Hossain filed the case on September 2.
