A leader of banned BCL arrested over attack on Khaleda Zia’s convoy

DHAKA, Jan 03, 2025 (BSS) - A leader of banned student organization Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was arrested in connection with the attack on the convoy of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia during an election campaign at Karwan Bazar in 2015.

Md Abul Hasna, senior vice president of BCL Tejgaon thana, was arrested early this morning from the city’s Monipuri Para.

According to Tejgaon Police Station sources, the incident occurred during the election campaign for the 2015 Dhaka North City Corporation mayoral race when Khaleda Zia was attending a rally in support of her party’s candidate, Tabith Awal, at Karwan Bazar.

The convoy was attacked on April 20, 2015.  A case was filed with Tejgaon Police Station on August 22, 2024, in connection with the attack naming Abul Hasan as a key suspect in the attack.

 Police said a regular case has been filed against him at the Tejgaon Police Station.
