Police arrests 2 snatchers at city’s Darus Salam

DHAKA, Jan 04, 2025 (BSS) – Police has arrested two professional snatchers with home-made weapons and knives from the Darus Salam area in ??the capital on Friday afternoon.

The arrested were identified as Md. Siddiqur Rahman, 35 and Md. Monir Hossain, 40, said a media release of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Darus Salam Police Station arrested the duo in front of Darus Salam Tower at 05:30pm on Friday with the weapons, while they were taking preparation for snatching. 

A case has been filed against the arrested persons at Darus Salam Police Station.

During the initial interrogation, police came to know that they are active members of an organized snatching gang.

They engaged in snatching in various areas of Dhaka city, especially in the areas from Gabtoli to Beribadh Barabazar Road.

They used to snatch bags, mobile phones, especially vanity bags of female pedestrians and other valuables of people showing home-made weapons.
