‘Police-people need to work together to make Dhaka a safe city’

DHAKA, Jan 4, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Police 
Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam today said Dhaka 
would be transformed into a safe city if police and people work in unison. 
 
"Police are continuing their best efforts to provide services as per  
expectations of the people. If the people and police work together, Dhaka 
will develop as a safe city," he told a view-exchange meeting held at a local 
community center in Wari here. 
 
Nazrul said they have been working tirelessly to become the pro-people 
police.
 
"If you let cooperation, it will be possible to bring Dhaka city to a crime-
tolerant level. Just as you want a people-friendly police, we also want 
police-friendly people," he stated.
 
The Additional Commissioner said a new chapter has begun in the context of 
Bangladesh on August 5. "Our young society has created an opportunity to 
erase disparity. We have to realize the dreams of those who gave their lives 
in the July-August Movement," he said.
 
Wari Division Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Saleh Uddin presided over the 
meeting. 
 
Officers of various ranks of Wari Division, leaders of various political, 
social, professional, religious organisations, heads of educational 
institutions and leaders of student movements were present.
