We want to be people’s police: Addl. Com. Shawkat Ali

DHAKA, Jan 4, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali today said police have been working to become the force of the people.  

“We don’t want to be oppressive police; rather we want to be the people's police,” he said as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organized by the police, students, public and respected citizens at the Banani Model School ground here this afternoon.

Shawkat said they want to prove that police are their true friends by providing them with the desired services. 

“We want to make this society crime-free along with the people,” he stated.

The Additional Commissioner said   to make policing effective and eliminate crime from the society, the people must come forward alongside the police. 

“The police and the public must work together to build a crime-free society and maintain law and order,” he said.

Gulshan Division Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Tarek Mahmud presided over the meeting. 

Gulshan Division officials of various ranks, leaders of various political, social, professional, religious organizations, and students and the public were present.
