Banned BCL leader Kauser sent to jail

DHAKA, Jan 04, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent banned Bangladesh Chhatra 
League (BCL) leader Md Kauser Ahmmed Sarwar to jail in a case lodged over 
Anti Terrorism Act with the capital's Kalabagan Police Station. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Israt Jenifar Jerin passed the order as police 
produced Kauser, former assistant secretary of the BCL central committee, 
before the court and the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Sub-Inspector 
(SI) Tareq Mohammad Masum pleaded for a seven-day remand.

However, the Court granted the IO to interrogate Kauser at jail gate for two 
days denying the remand petition. 

Earlier, Police arrested Kauser on Friday night from the capital's Jatrabari 
area.

According to the case statement, the accused along with fellow men brought 
out procession in the capital's Panthopath area on December 13.
At that time, they chanted different anti-government slogans. Police filed a 
case in this connection on the day.
